  • Past Life Reading and Questions Answered for breezey9290

    breezey9290

Archaeologists and geologists disagree over the precise dating of the volcanic explosion and tsunami in which you died in the earlier of two lifetimes that Greyfox saw for you.  The closest I can come with any confidence is between 3,500 and 4,000 years ago. It was in the Aegean, the “lost” civilization that early archaeologists called “Minoan,” after the legendary King Minos.

    Images here represent common
artifacts and motifs of the period.
For more, see U.of Oregon and
    the Onassis Cultural Center.

A couple of centuries before you lived there, a great earthquake or series of earthquakes destroyed the Palace of Knossos and did extensive damage to the cities of your civilization.  They had been rebuilt and that destruction had largely receded into legends, not only in your own culture but others in the region, with whom your people had active widespread trade.

Decoration carved in stone, engraved in
metals or painted on walls and artifacts
often feature spirals and flowing lines.

Your father in that lifetime was a wine merchant.  He was emotionally distant and had no apparent attachment to you.  He presented you and a sister to the temple to be priestesses.  His pretended motive was piety, but his true motivation was more devious.  Your mother had died of a fever, and your father was a miserly social climber.  Giving you up to the temple conferred status on him at the same time it gave him two fewer mouths to feed, and probably a better chance at a new wife of higher status.

The double axe was a common
    religious symbol in Minoan culture.
You were a preteen when you entered training for the priesthood.  You had mixed feelings about it, but your feelings were not considered.  As a priestess, you were treated better.  You had good clothes and ate well, but chafed at the regimentation.  You did not have much time to settle into that lifestyle.

Murals and carvings from that culture
depict dancers using a type of rattle called
a sistrum.  This one is made of clay.
You were just coming into sexual maturity when your life ended along with your civilization as the volcano now known as Santorini exploded and created gigantic tsunamis.  The following description comes from Elaine Meinel Supkis.  More info can be found on Wikipedia.

A pillar of smoke during the day and a pillar of fire at night. Day becomes night. The sea pulls back, fish, bottom crawling animals, shell creatures, exposed, helpless, the people on the shores, full of wonder, then a deafening roar, like a god gone mad, a howl of tremendous rage and the white pillar turns pitch black and a green wall crowned in white appears on the horizon and rapidly moves forwards even as the sun is blacked out by even faster moving clouds that rain hot pumice and lightning bolts shooting in all directions and the sea towers overhead as it roars onshore and everything is swept away…

In a subsequent incarnation, you lived in China during the twelfth century.  You were the only girl in a peasant family of five children.  There was a great drought and famine.  Your family was on the verge of starvation when your father smothered you in your sleep, in an attempt to make the resources go further.  He lied to your mother, claiming that you had simply died mysteriously.

Your death didn’t help the family.  Your mother suspected your father of killing you, but he never admitted it.  He felt terrible guilt over it, and the emotional shadow added to the misery of their material hardship.  They all starved eventually.

You asked me about three men in your life now.  The boyfriend with whom you had recently broken up has no past life association with you.  The person to whom you referred by initials was your father in that China incarnation.  That would be a conflicted relationship, a strong connection, a karmic bond.  Forgiveness and understanding are the only way to deal with it.

The other man was a priestess along with you in the Minoan incarnation.  This too, your having died together in that cataclysm, could create a powerful bond, probably of friendship, companionship, and shared philosophies, maybe even some mutual fears or phobias.  Whether it would be the basis for a romance would depend on the current chemistry, but he could turn out to be a good buddy.

You also asked me about your calling or career.  If you are interested enough in biology to complete the course work, it is probably as good as any other field of study.  I think it could be a basis for continued study, a point from which to explore in as many directions as you wish.  I don’t see you ever completing your education.  Growing up, finishing school and settling into a career is what the majority of the young to mature souls in this culture do.  Old souls tend to do things differently.  If Spirit calls you in one direction, or in a succession of different directions, you will feel it.  Follow where interest and curiosity lead.

That is the answer, too, to your last question, about spirituality.  The way you expressed your question tells me that you already know that the correct path is to follow your inner guidance.  The difficulties you described suggest that where you are “stuck” is in the Beta brainwave state.  You need to spend some time in Theta or low Alpha.  Meditation is one way to slow your brainwave frequency, and there are quicker and easier ways.  Read the Shamanic Path FAQ.  …and let us know if we can be of further service.

Twelve months of Premium Xanga were awarded to lupa.

Six months of Premium Xanga were awarded to lacemagicke.

If you entered or nominated a site that did not win, it was for one of three reasons:  the site already had Premium Xanga; the site had a layout that blocked ads; or the site’s theme was neutrally colored so that it did not clash with the ads.  I made the decisions based solely on visual aesthetics, and it had nothing to do with whether the nominee was “deserving.”  The stated criterion was, “need”, and since I had no way to verify any other aspects of “need,” I based the selection on a need to pretty up the site by getting rid of the ads.

Next time I accumulate 15,000 Xanga Credits, if Xanga’s offer is still open, I’ll spend them on another six months of Premium for someone.

  • Past Life Reading – SpiraledWings

    SpiraledWings

SpiraledWings has requested a past-life reading specifically to explore past associations with a group of people known to her in this lifetime.  She also asked about two specific past eras.  Greyfox found that everyone about whom she was asking is part of a soul group who have incarnated together more than once.

In late Ming Dynasty China, at the time of the Manchu conquest, the subject was a young boy, son of the court astrologer.  The one who was the boy’s father in that life is part of the soul group, incarnated in this life as GR.  Everyone else in that soul group was a member of the Emperor’s court.  All were males that time; none were royals.  HR was a major functionary, and the rest were minor.

In 1644, when Beijing fell to rebel armies allied with the Manchu, Emperor Chongzhen committed suicide.  The court astrologer (boy’s father, now GR) and the one now incarnated as SR, killed themselves after the emperor’s suicide.  The boy who was the subject was expected to–but ran and hid.  Even as he did, he suffered feelings of guilt for his “cowardice”.  He was found and slaughtered.

Images above are artifacts from the late Ming Dynasty:  a wooden rest for a calligrapher’s brush, detail from a silk scroll painted by Chen Hongshou, and an acupuncture chart in figurine form.

Images below are contemporary Mediaeval depictions of the First Crusade.

In the First Crusade, the subject was the youngest son of a minor noble.  His personality was puppyish, much like a combination of the traits of Bertie Wooster and Jeeves — Bertie’s sunny disposition and likeability, with Jeeves’s sense of duty, but not his brains, though.  The man wasn’t stupid, but of low-average intelligence.

He went on Crusade out of a sense of duty, not from any strong convictions.  He had no special skills or motivation, was simply Medieval cannon fodder.  Ironically, several of his companions (including two soulmates, GR and TC in this life) died in saving him  This ate at him.  He was enlightened, disillusioned, and disgusted by the slaughter and rapine.

Back home, he drank heavily, spoke against the church AND GOD.  When he died (young, from a fever which he would have survived had alcohol not so damaged his immune system) the local priest (HR in this life) wanted to put him in unhallowed ground.  The subject’s sister (SR in the current life) told the priest, “Let me put it to you this way, father–either he goes in hallowed ground, OR YOU DO.”

Most of your learning and growth right now are taking place in your spiritual life.  That includes creative development, personal growth, psychic unfoldment, initiation — there are lots of ways of looking at that part of a person’s being.  It is transcendent, and in some ways beyond words.

The current importance of the transcendent in your life is related to emotional factors.  In the recent past, emotional crises monopolized your mind.   Now that the emotional “storms” are clearing and you are opening up, your consciousness is more free to explore and experience life in new ways.  Your emotional growth and spiritual development are intertwined.  The problem is, you keep stopping yourself, questioning and doubting new ideas, letting your intellect (conditioned by what you have been taught) contradict your intuitive understanding of what is real.

On the emotional level, there is difficulty establishing rapport in your closest relationship.  Your respective beliefs — religious beliefs, spiritual concepts — are incompatible.  I think you have asked yourself if this is “the one” for you.  If you have to ask, then the answer is no.  The answer would be “no” anyway, because there is more than one person with whom you could be happy.  Happiness comes from within, and is a choice.

Probably the most powerfully significant card in this spread is the Knower, reversed on the positive side of the emotional level.  Being reversed indicates that this is an unrealized potential, something you can do for yourself.  Its position is related to happiness and emotional fulfillment.  Knowing comes when thoughts and feelings, intellect and intuition, agree.  You have some unlearning to do, some programming to change, before you can bring those halves of your mind together.

The material plane is where things need to shift to make everything else fall into place.  Something is coming to a head, but change is stalled just short of completion.  You fear that your resources and skills won’t be enough.  Partnership and cooperation, sharing both responsibilities and rewards, are the key to getting through difficult transitions.

Greyfox has a backlog of past life readings currently.  When he catches up, I will pass along your request to him.

  • Reality Check for octagone

    octagone

The Tree of Life Spread is read in three rows:  Spirit over Mind over Body; and three columns:  Challenges and Obstacles on the left, Strengths and Resources on the right, and Current Realities in the middle.  The tenth position, at the base, represents an overview or theme for the entire reading.

Half of the cards in this reading are Major Arcana, archetypal symbols denoting Cosmic realities or universal laws.  Three are reversed, indicating unrealized potentials or matters beyond your awareness.  The upright two indicate Cosmic forces of which you are aware and with which you must cope.

Your overview card is Nameless One reversed, signifying an unknown potential, an initiation that exists as an unmanifest possibility, something you can do, but there is no indication whether you will or not.

Above it, in the position denoting current reality on the material plane (health, wealth, occupation, physical substance) is Renewer reversed, again an unmanifest potential for regeneration and a new beginning, if you act in such a way as to make it happen.

The other reversed Trump, Thinker, denoting error, fear, and false belief, is at the upper right-hand corner, representing an untapped resource, an unused tool (your rational mind) which, if correctly used, could bring you spiritual growth and creative fulfillment.

Emotional factors are preventing you from grasping the way out of your stalemate.  You are on a developmental plateau, held back in your spiritual growth by emotional reactions, fears, and trivial concerns.  Your rational mind is held in chains of emotion and illusions of duality.  You try to make everything black and white in a world full of rainbows.

Breaking out of that stalled spiritual development would improve things for you materially, as well.  You need to be growing, for the growth itself and for what it will empower you to attain.  The major obstacle inhibiting you is that false belief in either/or, black and white, good and evil.  Such oversimplifications are lazy habits of minds unwilling to examine reality and think for themselves.

Cards on each level in this reading link to the other levels.  Resolving physical issues will help bring an emotional crisis to an end, and that could impel you off that developmental plateau and into the spiritual growth that will bring increase and improvement on the material plane.

The remaining two Major Arcana, upright, flank the center section, the mental/emotional level.  Changer on the right says that you possess the power to achieve a creative solution to the troubles brought upon you by your own past acts, symbolized by Donor on the left.  Balance is a keynote of each of these cards.  The Donor speaks of Karmic balance, what you earn you are given, whether you want it or not.  The balance spoken of in the Changer is the Flow, only the empty cup can be filled — to receive, you must “make room” by giving.

  • Reality Check for krisinluck

    krisinluck

The discomfort of the current time is that of an anticlimax, a plateau after crises and struggle.  You are ill at ease because of an awareness that you need to move on, but there’s no clear or easy way to go from here and you are not eager to get on with it, anyway.

I am looking at an odd connection between physical/material and mental/emotional levels, mixing gains and losses.  It seems that you’ve let go of something, or experienced a loss, and it comes as a relief, a load off your mind, even though it was clearly a crisis.  The worst of that is past now.  It is a healing crisis.

You said your reality has shifted.  The cards suggest that you finished a cycle of experience both emotional and spiritual.  You attained a peak and from up there things look a lot different. . .  feel different.  Disillusionment is a step in the right direction.  We don’t need illusions.  The un-learning you have been doing is where your current spiritual growth and creative development are coming from.

It is uncomfortable being hung up between past and future when the past has a sticky hold on you and the future is scary-uncertain.  Optimism is a useful attitude to cultivate, especially when the future is scary-uncertain.  At least you won’t be mucking up the present with useless worry and anxiety.

You have been keeping something to yourself, holding back on something that you know in your heart is right.  Letting in the light, coming out with it, is the next big step required of you (by you).  Don’t ever fall for the fearful fantasy that you can’t handle the changes.  Everyone does, always, one way or another.  Be mindful and put some effort into it, and you’ll handle it with style and grace.

  • Reality Check & Answers for charmian1

    charmian1

    Reality Check:

The best news from the reality check is that your financial crisis provides an open opportunity for spiritual growth.  This is a threshold you are reluctant to cross.  You would prefer to turn back from it and return to a more comfortable time, with material luxury over and above the necessities.  Your pain and distress are caused mainly by your unwillingness to accept the blessings available to you.

Happiness lies not in getting what we want, but in wanting what we have.  Joy is a personal choice, independent of external influences.  Seeking outside yourself for happiness renders you emotionally needy and leaves you vulnerable to disappointment, betrayal, and sadness.

Although I would say you are “ripe” for the important developmental step into emotional and spiritual maturity, you are due to make it, yet you do not appear to be ready to do it.  I think you have an intuitive grasp of the reality, and you have certainly had enough of unhappiness in your emotional life.  You lack only the courage to transcend your fear, and the decision to move ahead toward higher and less materialistic goals.

    ———————————————–
     Q&A:
I wish to find a nice man now.
(Refer to my answer to the similar question below.)

(continuing education) Design or nursing?  Psychology?
The choice is yours to make.  Achievements and rewards are possible in any of them.  You are likely to immediately find an affinity for psychology and helpful relationships with instructors and fellow students.

The initial portions of a study of either design or nursing would bring disillusionment and challenge, which you would need to overcome before you could progress in those fields.

In nursing, there is perhaps the greatest potential for reaping future benefits, but the road to that future would be the hardest and least certain.  The greatest uncertainty there would be your commitment to staying the course and overcoming the challenges.

Psych would bring you early rewards of knowledge you can apply to your own life circumstances, followed by trials and difficulties in completing the study and establishing yourself in professional life.  You would need a mentor, and need to be willing to make temporary sacrifices for your eventual success.

A career in design offers the most flexibility, freedom and time to spend with your family.  The pleasure of creative work is the major reward.  I see no indication of any great economic potential there.  You have the talent, but you would find the pursuit of the necessary skills to be demanding, frustrating and painful.

Your choice, as I see it, boils down to:  What is your ultimate goal?  What are you willing to do to attain it?  I also see that it would be possible, with some effort, to pursue all three fields.

Is it of utmost importance for me to stay removed physically from my parents?
    Yes.

Boyfriend. . .  Best to close a door on that relationship?
I don’t have an answer for that.  The decision is for you (and him) to make.  Since you appear to be looking for another man, you might have already made that decision.

Who can I go to for help?
Specifically, neither of your parents would be an appropriate source for the kind of help you seek.  In general, I know of nobody from whom you might find that help, other than local charities and those “economic safety nets” available to all Americans in need.  Other than that, you are on your own now.

Should we move from this area?
As I make clear in the disclaimers here, I don’t tell people what they “should” do.  You must make your own decisions.  There are difficulties and some dangers ahead if you stay where you are, but if you have economic problems there, moving will probably only make the immediate situation worse.  You will surely have an opportunity to move later, when there is less opposition, if that is your choice then.

I would like to meet a good man to partner with.
Yes, you have made that clear.  Before you can be a true partner to anyone, you need to be complete and sufficient unto yourself.  Please consult the FAQs, and read those on love, relationships, unconditional love, etc. — any that you think might be relevant to you.

I would like to be free from my financial burdens/debt.  Please clear the air for me to see the options.
Living within your means is essential, I would think.  Is bankruptcy an option for debt relief?  You have not made clear to me how serious your financial problems are.  I think if you were homeless, you would have mentioned that.  Are you facing the possibility of losing your home?  Does your family have enough to eat?  If not, do you qualify for Food Stamps?  Have you considered dumpster diving?  Greyfox and I do a lot of that, and have found some useful items that way.  Can your teenage children help by at least earning the money for any personal luxuries they want?  Are there currently expenditures for things you or the children can do yourselves, such as yard work or home maintenance, oil changes for your car, etc.?
What do I need to do or facilitate for my son?
Encourage his self-sufficiency and autonomy.  Offer guidance, rather than control.  Don’t keep your thoughts and feelings from him, and make it clear to him that you accept responsibility for yourself and your choices.  You are certainly a partner to him in determining the course of his life.  That much is inescapable, and any more would be unconscionable.  The best thing you can do to promote his spiritual development is to love him unconditionally.

    …for my daughter?
See above.  There is truly no difference in what your children need from you, but each of them will receive what he or she needs in different ways:  by your example, by speech, by their observation or intuition.

I feel it is my time to do some things for myself, too.
I agree, but I think you are probably placing the emphasis on, “myself,” in that sentence, and I would place it on, “do.”

I would like a male partner and to discover more with myself in a relationship.
I am not sure what you mean by, “to discover more with myself.”  Do you know what you are seeking there?

    More happiness and security.
Happiness is a choice and security is an illusion.  If you can embrace disillusionment and live in reality, you will have more opportunities for survival and achievement.

  • Reality Check for wcrow

    wcrow

Spirituality predominates now for you.  This ten-card spread consists of three levels and three columns, with a tenth, overview, card beneath them.  On the top, spiritual level, all 3 cards are in the suit of Serpents (Wands or Rods), which denotes spiritual matters, and on each of the other two levels there are two cards in that suit.  Seven cards out of ten being of one suit is statistically unlikely, very rare and may be unique in my experience.  Even only six of a suit is rare.  I don’t recall ever having seen seven before, and as I turned them over it took my breath away before I’d turned the fifth one.

That said, the overview card is not in that dominant suit, and with all those cards of a single suit, the exceptions stand out.  Emotional factors are the fly in the ointment, the only thing preventing your full serene realization of spiritual perfection and Oneness.  Feelings of loneliness, frustration, yearning, and resentment bind you to the past and make you fear for the future.  The trick for transcending that is to let go, relax the worrying inner dialogue between thoughts and feelings, and be in the Now.

In one sense, your spirit is transcendent now and this crisis of spirit is already resolved.  If not for your continual doubting and questioning, hanging onto beliefs handed to you from the past, and dreams of a desired future, you would have it all now.  You know, and yet you doubt.  You trust, and yet you fear.

Experiencing all that with passion and immediacy, all at once, can feel so intense that pleasure and pain become indistinguishable from each other.  It is a wild ride, and the brain chemistry involved, the adrenaline and endorphins, are addictive.  The soaring spirit is housed in a meat machine.  You’re human, so that’s okay.  It is not just okay, it is inevitable.  Fighting it gives it power:  what we resist persists.

Language makes it hard to express true reality here.  You are working things out.  Things are already worked out, working themselves out, will work out.  What you desire is yours, will be yours, has always been yours for the asking, but why bother?  Love IS.  Love is a verb.  We do it.  We don’t find it or fall into it.  Emotional “heart” and intellectual mind are the interface between body and spirit.  What is, IS.  Love it, love yourself, love others, but there really are no others.  We are all ONE.

“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

  • Reality Check — State of the United States

While reading comments on the entry I posted yesterday on my other Xanga site, SuSu, in which several people asked me not to stop commenting on politics, I felt inspired to take my commentary to another level, and do a reading on the current state of my country.

I focused, sought clarity, shuffled the Book of  T deck, and dealt ten cards in a Tree of Life spread.

The first thing that popped into my mind is, “It has no heart.”  I see five minor arcana, two court cards, and three major arcana.  The only one of them in the suit of Pears (Cups or hearts:  emotion, intuition, feelings) was a reversed (negated) King, symbolizing a void or absence, at upper left, the position representing spiritual obstacles or challenges.  It can be interpreted as a devious, deceptive, destructive, “heartless” man, or as a general absence of the intuitive feminine influence.  Since those few women who have gained political prominence in this country tend to express the kind of linear logic understood by men, this makes sense to me either way.

At lower left, the position for material, physical or economic challenges and losses, is another Major Trump, The Royal Maze, formerly Wheel of Fortune.  Opposite the Maze, at lower right in the position of physical or material strengths, is the five of Stones (Coins, Pentacles, diamonds, money or material things).  Between the Maze and the Stone five, in the position of our collective material status, is the six of Blades.  Fives in general denote struggles, “opposition on top of opposition,” and sixes generally represent an end to opposition and movement through challenge, toward renewal.

The “material plane” in a personal reading with this spread can refer to health, wealth, work,  the physical body and its environment, or all of the above.  In this collective reading, it can refer to the economy, the war, and./or catastrophic climate change.  Taken together, I see in that bottom, material, row, that our situation has reached a critical level of loss and destruction, and now people are forced to seek ways to resolve the conflicts and meet the challenges.  The Maze or Wheel is the real wild card of the deck.  It denotes no particular outcome, but introduces the element of chance.  All that is certain is that once we make the move, enter the Maze, spin the Wheel, we learn something, grow, and come out wiser somehow.

In the center, where the heart should be, is the deuce of Blades (Swords, spades, intellect, words, communication). Deuces in general denote polarity and division.  The deuce of Blades means ambivalence, ambiguity, confusion, and conflict of ideas.  Flanking the deuce of Blades in the center row, the plane of feelings, emotions, and relationships, are two more cards in the suit of Stones (earth, matter).  Eight in the left column symbolizes environmental, material, and economic overreaching, creating challenges that cause us fear, sadness and discontent.  In opposition to it is the King, suggesting that as a nation we derive pleasure and emotional comfort from our possessions, from stability, and also from sensual indulgence including, obviously, food, one of the most basic of material things.

There is another deuce in the spread, in the suit of Serpents (Wands, clubs, power, fire, creativity, spirit).  It is positioned at upper right, opposite the heartless King.  Between them, reversed in the top position which denotes our spiritual status, is the last of the three Major cards here:  Citadel or Tower.   We, in the aggregate, as a nation, are not growing in a spiritual sense.  We don’t agree on what “spiritual growth” means, or on what growing spiritually would bring.  Some of us pull toward traditional paths, while others reach toward new ways.  That which does not grow, regresses, stagnates and ultimately dies.

The outlook on the material plane is more promising than that on the spiritual, but nothing in this glimpse of the present moment says much about what might come next.  The tenth and final card, at the bottom, by itself, removed from the three planes of body, mind and spirit, might provide some insight.  In the base position, representing the theme of the time, an overview of the reading, is Nameless One, Major Trump #0, The Fool in older decks.  We don’t know where we are going, but it looks better than where we have been.  We don’t know how much we know or what we don’t know, and to a large extent we are not paying attention.
